Due to lack of generalizing engineering geological classification of historical natural-technical systems, which allows to determine the complex of problems arising in historical structures. The purpose of article was to identify the paragenesis of exogenous geological processes that have a negative influence on the conservation and functioning of Orthodox monasteries depending on their location. The article analyzed the components of engineering geological conditions of monastery territories in terms of their influence on the preservation and operation of monastery structures showing that most important component is exogenous geological processes. In its turn, their activation and development is mostly influenced by the location of monasteries on certain geomorphological elements. There are five types of location of historical natural and technical systems for the central part of Russia: on watersheds, near slope areas of watersheds, on slopes of watersheds, on the surface of floodplain terraces and on the coasts of rivers or lakes. Depending on their location, for each historical naturaltechnic system was proposed an individual paragenesis of exogenic geological processes, which must be taken into consideration in diagnostic deformations of structures, as well as carrying out construction and/or restoration works. Attention is also given to such engineering-geological processes such as reformation of shores, and destruction of pile heads in soils of the construction bases. According to this classification for each historical natural-technical system, paragenesis of processes can be defined quickly, and its possible to see the most threatening to safety and functioning of historical natural-technic system process, to predict its development and to project measures for the further control of the structure. Perhaps, this will allow to optimize engineering and geological studies, make them more focused and less costly, and reduce the time required for “diagnostic” monitoring.
