Active development of the Arctic, namely the construction of infrastructure facilities for the oil and gas industry involves various dangers associated with the reaction of the upper high-temperature part of the permafrost section to anthropogenic impact. However, there is another type of threat, independent of human actions. In this paper, they are called gas-cryogenic processes (GCP), combining all known to date cryogenic heaving in conjunction with the influence of the gas factor. Under conditions of a high degree of saturation of the surface ice layer with gas hydrates, a new task related to the prediction of zones of possible GCP localization is set before the engineering and geological surveys. The paper presents an attempt to solve this problem. For this, the tectonic development of the south-eastern part of the Taz Peninsula in Neogene-Quaternary was analyzed using the structural-morphometric method based on a digital elevation model of ultra-high spatial resolution. The relationship between the degree of geodynamic activity and the spatial localization of GCP has been established. Maps of morphometric parameters (relative vertical amplitudes maps of neotectonic movements) which allow to make a quantitative assessment of the degree of its geodynamic activity have been constructed in the study area. These maps can be used at the pre-field stage of engineering-geological surveys to optimize field work, as well as at the stage of desk processing, in the mapping of engineering-geocryological zoning of the territory. The results obtained indicate the high efficiency of this method in solving engineering-geological survey tasks, as well as those arising in the process of designing oil and gas industry facilities.
